Support Miry's List: Emergency Aid for Refugee Families

Who We Are

Miry's List is a community support system for new arrival refugee families in the U.S. that nurtures the culture of welcoming newcomers through family-to-family and friend-to-friend connections.

Emergency Support for Refugee Families

We currently face a significant reduction in resources available to resettling refugee families in the U.S. because the Federal government has divested from the refugee admissions program. This means fewer case workers, reduced welcome cash to cover housing rental deposits and other essentials, and families facing a steeper challenge to rebuilding their lives. While there is only one remaining pathway left for refugees (the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV), for Afghan allies and their families), families already in the US and families that are permitted will need more support than ever from organizations like ours.

We are asking for your support to cover the cost of essential needs for 30 families.

Miry's List continues unwavering support for incoming refugees and those already in the U.S. in 2025. We have always been community-funded, and we need your support now more than ever to meet the demand for our resources. We are the neighbors, and we aren't going anywhere.

Overview: Miry's List Survive, Hive, Thrive Program

Miry's List provides a mechanism for people to directly help new arrival refugee families with the incredible challenge of resettlement in the U.S. With practical support and community joy waiting to welcome them, resettling families are set up to thrive through 12 months of wrap-around programming that fills gaps in and extends long beyond government support.

Impact

Since 2016, we’ve engaged over 250,000 American people to support more than 1,400 families who have come through the Federal Refugee Resettlement program from countries including Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, and most recently, Ukraine, Moldova, and Guatemala.

Where We're Going

Miry’s List and our community-based partners have been here before and we are prepared to fill these gaps, but we need your help to meet the increasing demand through the Miry’s List Emergency Action Fund. This fund addresses families’ urgent material needs (such as beds/bedding), provides direct cash assistance, and includes 12 months of wrap-around services, like English tutoring.

There are 257 families in our program now, and we expect to welcome 350 more in the upcoming year.

While Miry’s List does not rely on government funding, the lack of support directly affects our families and partners; thus the demand on our services is steadily increasing.
