Support Miss Molly's Heart Recovery Journey

Hi everyone! If you are here, you are most likely one of the many people who love and adore Molly Mosely, or “Miss Molly” as she is known by her beloved students, their families, and her community. Many of you have reached out wanting to help in some way, so I am writing this on behalf of her friends and extended family to share Miss Molly’s story and to provide a way for those who would like to help cover some of the expenses her family will be faced with while she works on healing and recovering from her surgery.

As many of you know, Molly suffered a very unexpected heart attack just hours after arriving on her first night in St. Maarten. What was intended to be a dream vacation in paradise quickly became a nightmare for her and her loved ones. Luckily, her husband, brother, and sister in law acted quickly and got her to the nearest hospital where they were able to keep her stable. Unfortunately, despite protecting their trip with travel insurance, there was not much the hospital in St. Maarten was able to do beyond keeping her heart working due to not being able to accept medical insurance from out of the country. Therefore, they were left to find their own transportation back to the US in order to get additional medical treatment and testing to determine the severity of the heart attack and next steps. They were able to purchase a medical flight to St. Maarten to a hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. There, they discovered that Molly would require quadruple bypass surgery and would need to spend a significant amount of time in Florida recovering before being able to travel the 1,200 miles home to Pana, Illinois. All four of Molly’s children were able to fly down to Florida to spend some time with her before and following her surgery. Her surgery was successful and she has been working hard to follow her medical team’s plan for her recovery and is showing everyone how strong, resilient, and tough she is.

Your donations will help pay for the unexpected medical costs associated with Molly’s care, including the emergency flight from St. Maarten to Fort Lauderdale, travel expenses for her family such as hotels, meals and necessities while staying in Florida and not having access to their own home, car rental, etc. There are so many things about this trip that were unexpected and have caused so much worry, and we would love to help take the worry of all of these expenses away from Molly and her family and let them focus on her recovery and getting her home to the community that loves her as much as she loves them back!
