Support Missy Simpson's Fight for Life

Dear family and friends of Missy Simpson,
Our sister, friend and mother, Missy, has been living with a rare autoimmune disorder that compromises her ability to fight infections. Known as CVID, it affects approximately 1 in 25,000 to 50,000 people and increases your risk of developing cancer along with other life-threatening conditions. In February of this year, she became gravely ill and was hospitalized for serious complications related to her condition, including encephalitis, hydrocephalus, and hemolytic anemia. It is now September, and Missy has been in both the hospital and acute rehab since that time, fighting for her life. Her immune system continues to attack her on a variety of fronts. The infection in her brain has resulted in cognitive impairment, permanent blindness and loss of hearing in one ear, in addition to limited ability to stand or walk. To our dismay and sadness, despite prolonged and continued treatment interventions, her situation has become terminal and she will remain under hospice care.
Our brother Bernie is saddened, overwhelmed, and exhausted. Shane and Nora are having difficulty watching this happen to their mother. They have been struggling to live without her for over half a year and are now just learning that she will never recover and come home to them. They are losing their mother (who is only 49) and our brother is losing his wife.
Not only has this impacted the family on a deep emotional level, but her prolonged hospital stay of over seven months and counting has put a strain on their finances and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
We are coming together as a family in love and support of Missy and her family to help cover her ongoing medical expenses. Please keep them in your prayers.
If you have the capacity to give, we appreciate your consideration in this difficult and sad situation.
With gratitude,
The Simpson Family
