Support Missy Taylor's Fight Against Cancer

Hello Friends,

I am writing this with an extremely broken and heavy heart. My name is Chuck Shaw and I am starting this fundraiser for Melissa, “Missy” Massimi Taylor. On August 26, 2024, Missy became sick on a vacation cruise to Alaska and had to be urgently airlifted off of the cruise to the nearest hospital in Seattle, Washington. At that time, doctors had to perform emergency surgery to remove a life threatening blockage in her colon. Missy was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer, which had spread to her liver and ovaries. Doctors removed Missy’s ovaries, as well as parts of both her colon and liver. This was all occurring while Missy's daughter, Lexi, (15 years old) was still on the cruise with family and friends, unaware of what was going on with her mother. The surgery was successful, but Missy has a long road of recovery and medical bills to prepare for. Unfortunately, she and her husband Todd, remain in Seattle due to complications from her surgery, not allowing her to travel back to their home in Buffalo, New York.

They also found out that Missy is not entitled to any disability or FMLA and will be losing her county job due to inadequate time of employment there.

Anyone who is blessed and privileged enough to know Missy knows it does not get any better than her. I have known Todd for 45 years and Missy for over 30 years. These are the two of the most humble, caring, loving, extraordinary parents and people on planet earth. There is not one thing they wouldn’t do for anybody.
