My name is Kevin Ronca, a filmmaker / artist in Pennsylvania and I am raising money for my friend Mohamed Ziyad Mohamed Albess, a courageous beautiful spirit that dreamed of owning his own gym, was helping build hope in his community through terrifying times, inspiring the youth, & after finally achieving after a life of determination & hard work against all odds his dream of owning a gym to help people... It was taken away when Israel indiscriminately bombed his home & gym in Gaza, destroying them, & a sniper shot him in the arm. But we think it would be most impactful to hear it in his own words:
"My name is Mohamed Ziyad Mohamed Albess, I am 30 year old from Gaza living with my wife Ebtihal. I was previously a Palestine National Team Player for Physical Strength, I was in the 1993 graduate class of the Bachelor of Physical Education, bodybuilding coach and sports nutrition specialist. Before the war on Gaza, I used to practice physical strength with love. I had every dream of reaching a world record in the bench press. I was shot by a sniper in my arm and shortly after the gym was bombed. I am now starting again from point zero. I need someone to help me receive treatment outside of Gaza. There is a problem in my hand that is holding me back from reaching the numbers I was at, I am determined to continue working until I achieve my dream”
Mohamed Ziyad Mohamed Albess & his wife Ebtihal were starting their dream life & it was turned into a nightmare almost overnight. These funds are primarily to help him survive right now with basic essentials with how limited aid is getting through & how high inflation has risen inside the refugee camps to get the most basic items needed to survive. A portion will also be put towards helping Mohamed Ziyad travel out of the country to fix injuries he sustained from a sniper shooting him after the IDF bombed his gym into ruins. His one passion in life was maintaining a healthy lifestyle, one of the last freedoms he has & even that was taken away with one pull of a trigger & one drop on a bomb; destroying his last hope.
It is very expensive to travel out of Gaza but he needs immediate medical attention, every day that passes with a wound in his arm, makes it more dangerous. If any other money remained after, or even if he has to find a way to rebuild it with his own hands, he wants to re-open his gym; what acted as a beautiful place for the people of Gaza to connect & for even a few moments, forget the horror they are facing day to day.
He is displaced from his home full of his memories, possessions, & hopes. So this is very urgent.
