Support Mohammed's Family Escape Gaza
Donation protected
Dear all,
Mohammed Abu Shrar and his family need your immediate support to escape Gaza.
On January 1st, Mohammed’s home was bombed and Mohammed along with the 7 other members of his family were forced to move into shelters, struggling to find even the most basic necessities for survival. Prior to the escalation of violence against the Palestinians, Mohammed was a member of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society and a student at the university. Those possibilities were taken from him when the university was decimated and he lost his job. Mohammed and his family have lost any hope for a future life in Gaza. Here is Mohammed’s story in his own words:
“My family had a house in Gaza. The whole family lived in this house. I worked for the Palestinian Red Crescent Society and received a salary before the war in Gaza. After the war, this beautiful life was gone. I was studying at the university, and now there is no longer a university. Now I cannot complete my studies because of the catastrophic situation here. I have a brother. I am about to get married. My sister was studying at the university. We have lost all of these possibilities in life. My father lost his job, I lost my job and can no longer continue my studies at the university. Me and my family lost our home. Now all the family’s belongings live in a tent in the extreme heat.
My mother is sick and cannot bear this difficult life. The catastrophe: Getting out of this city is the only solution so that we can look for a new home and I can complete my studies with my sister. My brother can get married and start a new family in a safe place. Life here is not safe.
My father's name is Ashraf, my mother’s is Magda, my brother’s is Bilal, my sister’s is Ataf, and my sister's children are Sama, Abdullah, and Saba.”
The Abu Shrar family needs our help. We are asking for your support to raise funds for their evacuation through the Rafah border. It is very costly to do this crossing (between $5,000- $8,000 per person) and this does not include the additional cost of travel for this 8-person family.
Beyond the crossing, we wish to raise 2 months of living expenses to help them get settled, including shelter, food, transportation, and urgent medical needs. Any additional funds raised would go towards the family in rebuilding their lives. Your kindness, no matter how small, can and will make a big difference in helping the Abu Shrar family begin again. Give hope to this family and help them feel a sense of community again. If you aren’t able to financially contribute to this cause, we ask you to share the Abu Shrar’s story to spread the word.
