Support Molly Jane Berry's Medical Journey

This his my sweet girl Molly Jane Berry.

Molly was born with Spina Bifida Myelomeningocele

Myelomeningocele is a severe birth defect where the spinal cord does not close properly during fetal development, leaving an opening in the back not fully covered by skin, allowing spinal fluid to be exposed to amniotic fluid, resulting in severe brain defects.

She was also born with a Chiri Malformation, causing her cerebellum extend into the spinal canal, causing her extreme mobility issues.

During our now couple of weeks at the NICU at Dell Children’s Medical Center, in Austin Texas, Molly has undergone some very serious, life saving surgerys. Including the repair of the Myelomeningocele, also having to receive a skin graph to cover the recent surgery on her back, also upcoming a possible Cricoid Split

(A cricoid split is a surgical procedure that involves making an incision in the cricoid cartilage, which is the ring-shaped cartilage that sits below the larynx ( your voice box )

hopefully helping my girl be able to breathe off a ventilator and help her speak.

She may also be upcoming the placement of a VP Shunt

Ventricular-Peritoneal (VP) Shunt

A ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt is a surgical procedure that implants a tube (catheter) into the brain's ventricles (fluid-filled spaces) to drain excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) into the abdominal cavity.

VP shunts are primarily used to treat hydrocephalus, a condition where there is an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain. This accumulation can cause increased pressure on the brain

All scary medical talk aside, Molly is 100% expected to have a full life being apart of a massive community of others born with this type of disability. And with all the necessary procedures and therapy Molly is designed by God to be a bright young lady, who has a 3 year old big sister named Charlotte who can’t wait to be reunited with her.

Although all of this is extremely financially taxing on our young growing family, we will do all we need to support miss Molly's lifelong journey
