Support Mo’Saias' Fight Against Cancer

Aug 23rd 2:47 pm was the moment the earth stopped its normal rotation in our lives. This one word changed everything within our family, CANCER!
Rewind to June 29th, 8 year old , Mo’Saias, reached for the remote and extended his arm. When he put his arm out, there was this huge bump. We sat in the ER for hours, the ultrasound and X-rays were done. Because he was in no pain, had full mobility, and no symptoms of an active infection; we were discharged and went home.
We followed up with his pediatrician and were sent to a sports physician, but nobody knew what this was. Finally, an MRI revealed the cause of the growth on his arm. And for his mom, as a single parent, it was her worst nightmare. He was diagnosed with rare and aggressive form of cancer, called rhabdomyosarcoma.
Mo’Saias has from birth had a strong drive to defy the odds. If you know Mo’Saias you know his genuine heart and that smile, that will brighten any day! He's the kind of kid that asked his mom if he could take his allowance and feed the homeless, even though he had already planned to use it for the movies. He has hopes of being a drummer and police officer, like his uncle. He loves school and is doing amazing in 3rd grade. He enjoys helping others, and does so with the purest of intentions! He loves his mom, little brother and family as a whole. We have full faith in God and in Mo’Saias' unwavering will to live; so we believe he WILL BEAT this! However to beat this, he, his mom, and little brother, will need consistent support as they navigate this battle.
His mom is not eligible for FMLA because she has been employed less than the year needed to qualify for it, at her current employer. His medical treatments for this strain of cancer, will extend beyond the scope of her insurance. As she supports her Mo’Saias during his treatment, we have created this Gofundme, with the goal of easing the burden of any financial hardships.
As his mother and primary guardian, Minnette does an amazing job as a mother, but also contributes greatly within the eastbay community. She lends help to anyone in need, something she has taught both her boys. In the past few years, Mo’Saias, his brother and mother have fed people on Thanksgiving in an effort to give back. Now is our time to surround Mo’Saias, encourage his mother, father, and brother, and uplift them during this time of recovery.
With much gratitude,
