Support Mr. Marlon Moore’s Homecoming!

As part of EPIC’s Parole Advocacy Project at NYU Law , we (Geneva, Thao, & Kat) have been working with Mr. Marlon Moore over the past ten months to prepare for his parole board interview and now, his return home. We are raising funds for Mr. Moore, who was granted parole and will return home in August.
Mr. Moore is a dedicated father and son who is coming home after being incarcerated for 8 years for a crime he maintains he did not commit.
He is excited to support his mother, who is 78 years old, and be a positive role model for his 4 children and young people in the community. Mr. Moore shared, “I just want people to know and understand my story. Maybe I can help them. They might never know that someone else has also been through the same thing.”
Mr. Moore is a reflective and generous person who is looking forward to starting a new chapter in his life. Mr. Moore had a happy childhood growing up between Brooklyn and Trinidad, but he got caught up in the streets after losing his father at a young age. He shared with us, “When times are hard, people need someone to lean on – I’ve learned now that it’s important not to be scared to ask for help.”
When Mr. Moore returns to New York City, he hopes to mentor young people in his community to give them hope and support. In his words, “They’re the ones who are coming in here, and who need help, and hopefully I can help them. Looking back, if I had someone who could speak to me, I think it would have helped… If someone had shown me a different way, I might not have been here right now.”
Any and all support is greatly appreciated and will go directly to Mr. Moore to support his immediate needs upon his return home in August and get him back on his feet. The funds will support Mr. Moore’s travel needs, put food on his table, and financially support his mom and kids, who have been there for him throughout his time in prison. Please share widely and feel free to contact us with any questions.
