Support Mrs. Joan Harrington

Last month our beloved preschool teacher, Joan Harrington, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.  She has already undergone one treatment of chemotherapy, one treatment of radiation and faces further treatments going forward.  Joan is currently putting all her energy and focus on her health and has made the decision to take leave through the rest of the school year.  While she is strong, both emotionally and in faith, we want to give her the support needed to enable her to concentrate on her health and family.

Her family has requested prayers and some privacy as they sort through this challenging ordeal; however, many people have asked how they can help.  After much thought and brain-storming it has been determined that, in keeping with the family’s request, the best way to help Joan is to set up a GoFundMe Account.  This will not only help to defray some of her medical costs but will also help ease the expense of family visits, especially from her two sons, who are currently living on the west coast - visits from family members are critical to keeping her spirits up as she takes on this battle.   

Joan has been with St. Gertrude’s Parish for 30 years. Her children are third generation to graduate from NCA. For over 20 years Joan has nurtured our children, giving them a loving and structured start to school life.  It is now time for us to nurture Joan and show our thanks for all she has done for our children and families.
