Support Sussex Family After House Fire

On the afternoon of August 16th, my coworker Maya's family experienced a house fire at their home in Southeastern Wisconsin near Sussex. A malfunction in their dishwasher sparked a fire that caused considerable smoke and fire damage. The damage was so extensive that they can't stay in their home until repairs have been done, so they have been staying in a hotel ever since.

My coworker's mom and stepfather--Heather and her husband, Mike--live with seven of their children (four of whom are foster children). Additionally, their family has four beloved dogs. Because of the size of their family, it will likely be difficult to find longer-term housing and regain stability after this unexpected event.

The funds raised through this GoFundMe will help cover temporary housing costs and ensure the family can stay in their community with stable housing. Every contribution, whether $5, $10, or more, will help Heather, Mike and their children—Gia, Chase, Vinny, Ayden, Remy, Yohson, and Bella—get back on their feet as quickly as possible. Money raised will be spent specifically on temporary housing costs and basic needs (food, temporary boarding for their dogs).

My coworker has given me permission to create this page, and I genuinely think that any support would mean the world to my coworker and her family, who are doing their best navigating this unexpected difficulty.
