Support My Family After Tragic Loss and Theft

Our family wants to share awareness for our community. We can’t imagine another family going through such tragedy we’ve experienced.

I, My Nguyen, am reaching out today in a moment of overwhelming distress. After 35 years of hard work and sacrifice, our family’s life savings, along with cherished jewelry, handbags, and other items of immense sentimental value—such as my parents' wedding gifts and gifts given to my sister and me when we were first born—were all stolen. Stripped clean. My Vietnamese, immigrant parents, who were eager to retire this year after so much dedication, are now left devastated and struggling to find a way forward.

Our family has poured our hearts and hard work into running a small business, humbly selling exotic fruits and flowers. Lunar New Year (Tet Vietnam) is always our busiest time, providing the cash flow needed to sustain our business through the rest of the year. After weeks of tireless work, we were physically and mentally exhausted to later find out that my grandpa passed away just a week after Tet. To catch our breath, we temporarily kept our earnings, along with our family of eight's life savings, at home. We planned to pay our workers and cover critical bills, including our business lease, inventory, and personal expenses like car insurance, credit cards, and rent, as soon as possible, along with recovering from the loss of a loved one.

Sadly, in just a moment, everything we had worked so hard and long for was taken from us within minutes. The decision to keep such an amount of cash at home wasn’t made lightly—it was simply the result of trying to balance caring for our business and ourselves.

Though this has been devastating, we are doing our best to remain hopeful and are asking for your continued support as we rebuild. Your kindness and encouragement mean the world to us. Thank you for standing by us during this challenging time.

As we wait for updates from the authorities, we are growing more anxious with each passing day. The reality is slowly sinking in that our chances of recovering what was taken are slim, making us fear that we may struggle to meet our basic needs or pay our bills grows.
