Dear Friends,
I have been admitted into the University of Global Health Equity (http://ughe.org/) in Rwanda for a Master of Science in Global Health Delivery (http://ughe.org/academics/ mghd/) starting in September 2018. While I was offered a generous financial package and used my savings for fees, I still need help to cover the remaining expenses.
Balance fees + room + board = $4,870
Estimated return flight (Sierra Leone-Rwanda) =$1800
Living expenses (in-country transportation, medical, toiletries, pocket money) - estimated at $350/month) for 12 months = $4,200
Total Needed = $10,870
About Musa Bernard Komeh
I am a Sierra Leonean and Project Supervisor for eHealth Africa's electronic vaccine registration (VaxTrac) project. I plan and conduct training for health workers on the use of the VaxTrac technology, monitor project implementation, play vital role in stakeholder engagements and act as principal assistant to the project manager for the overall management of the project.
In 2015, I graduated with a BSc in Exercise Science (Public Health concentration) from Skidmore College. During College, I was a founding member of the African Heritage club, served as Peer Health Educator and was elected President of the International Student Union during my 3rd year. I wanted to pursue a career in public/ global health due to the fact that Sierra Leone and her neighboring countries are experiencing a lot of health problems that can be prevented and controlled with the help of a robust health system. With the outbreak of Ebola, I realized an urgent need for me to serve in public/global health as I could combine theory and experience in solving some of the key health problems faced by Sierra Leoneans and her neighbors.
So I applied to the University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda because I care about African experiences that focus on health leadership and impact. At the end, I want to return home and do more in delivering health equity.
With your financial contribution, you will be helping me gain additional skills and qualification in monitoring, research and evaluation, health policy and leadership, health finance and epidemiology; which are all fundamental towards my contribution in improving my country’s healthcare system. With an MSc in Global Health Delivery, I will be contributing towards Sierra Leone’s struggling health sector which is in dire need of Sierra Leonean Health professionals with technical skills and expertise.
To show appreciation towards your contribution, you will be receiving the following from me:
$0-100: Personal Thank You email
$101-300: Personal Thank You email + Post card from Rwanda
$301-500: Personal Thank You email + Post card from Rwanda + Quarterly progress report
Above $500: Personal Thank You email + Post card from Rwanda + Quarterly progress report + mentioning your name on my Thesis appreciation page
