Support My Ibiza Marathon 2025 for Different Strokes
In April, I’ll be taking on the Ibiza Marathon to raise money for the young stroke survivor charity, Different Strokes, a cause that’s incredibly important and close to my heart.
I know first-hand how life-changing a stroke can be. In May 2023, following a traumatic vascular injury, my brother-in-law suffered a right-sided MCA stroke (middle cerebral artery). This resulted in a large percentage of brain damage on the right side, completely paralysing the left-hand side of his body alongside other complications. After a week and a half in ICU, he was transferred back home to London, where he spent a further two months in 2 more hospitals recovering and was finally able to return home in August 2023. During his time in the hospital, he received fantastic support and care from physiotherapist teams, helping him to slowly get back moving, which we are eternally grateful for. However, the long term effects of a stroke are life-changing and an everyday battle facing mobility and cognitive issues, fatigue and a huge decline in mental health.

Stroke doesn’t just affect older people. Every year in the UK, around 100,000 people have a stroke, and shockingly, 1 in 4 of these people are under the age of 65. That's 25,000 younger people whose lives change in an instant. Different Strokes is a charity run by younger stroke survivors, for younger stroke survivors, offering support, rehabilitation, and a community that truly understands the challenges of recovery.
Stroke is the single biggest cause of disability in the UK, but it's not always the visible disabilities that stroke survivors have to contend with, debilitating fatigue, cognitive problems and personality changes can also be a lifelong challenge, preventing them from returning to work or bringing up a young family. So I am doing the marathon this April to raise awareness and funds for Different Strokes, helping them continue their vital work. Every donation—big or small—will make a real difference in supporting younger stroke survivors on their road to recovery.
Any donation means a lot, but if you're unable to contribute, sharing this page with friends, family, or on social media would be greatly appreciated.
Follow My Journey: I’ll be posting updates on my training and fundraising efforts, so stay tuned!
Thank you so much for your support. It means the world to me and to those whose lives are changed by stroke!
