Support my independence and mobility!

Hi,

I'm Chris and I need some help. I have a variety of disabilities and health conditions most notably cerebral palsy. I'm an educator and applying to grad school for social work to support kids who have experienced trauma and abuse.

Back in May, as the weather grew warmer where I live I noticed an increase in falls. With CP this isn't uncommon, so I didn't really think too much of it. Until the day I fell then almost pased out in my classroom and ended up at the hospital.

Thankfully I am ok. I'm being treated by excellent providers and on a list to see a specific specialist who can hopefully get to the bottom of these issues. I am at greater risk of falls and other issues, but mostly ok.

My team wants me to start using a walker with a seat so that I have a seat there when I need it and the extra protection of the walker. I went to the medical supply company to pick up a walker last week, but it wasn't the right fit for me. Frustrated, I talked to my doctor again. She recommended a specific and specialized walker designed for people with neurological conditions like CP (and also the other issue I am currently having).

I called the walker supplier and they told me they don't work with my insurance so I will have to pay out of pocket.

This is where I need the help. This walker will not only keep me safe in the short term, but can last with me as I grow older and need to rely on a walker even more. In addition to it having the features I need right now, it is also designed to help the user not fall at all.

All funds go to the cost of the u step walker ($500), shipping ($60) and a little extra to offset any fees taken out.
