Support my Mom through her sudden loss

Donation protected
On Saturday 12/7/24, 8 days after walking into the ER, and being diagnosed with
pneumonia, then renal failure and septic shock, my Papa, Kevin Riley was taken off the ventilator and was granted his often-voiced wishes of never being sustained on life
support if there is no chance of recovery.

Papa would be celebrating his 67th birthday on the 22nd of December. We will celebrate his life that day as a family at one of his favorite places on earth, a Lady Wildcat Basketball game!

Besides leaving behind his kids, grandkids and great-grands that he cherished beyond
belief, he left behind my Mom – his soulmate and the love of his life. The two
led a very active life with family and their fur kids of rescue weiner dogs. Papa lived a modest life and was always there to help anyone who needed it, especially his family.
One of his highest priorities was always to make sure Mom was taken care of, this meant even texting me right after getting a pacemaker put in to ask me to check on her to see how she was handling HIS surgery! He was always up front and honest about his health, making sure mom knew where his life insurance policy was on several occasions. After he passed, she easily located it in a file in his office marked “life insurance”, though was told the policy did not show in the system when looked up under his SSN or his name. The only explanation was “it may have not been registered.” She was also told she is unable to draw on his Social Security since she still works full-time.

He served 23 years in the US Navy with an honorable discharge in April of 1992 as an
air traffic controller. She has completed forms to receive his Navy pension, but without
life insurance and social security, she faces having to worry about money at a time
when she is grieving. Papa handled all of the bill paying just as he handled many things around the house following his true retirement.

He would be devastated to know Mom is having to face these issues in her grief and that his planning for her care after his passing, did not go as he intended. Please consider donating if you can to help my mom fill the financial gaps during this time.
