Support My Family's Journey to Safety

Hello everyone,

I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my family in Sudan. For those who aren’t aware, it has been more than a year that war has broken out in Sudan, with the estimate being 100,000-150,000+ dead. I cannot capture in a few sentences the catastrophic environment it has become, with civilians bearing the brunt of the violence. Thousands of people are sick or injured with little to no assistance due to a collapsed healthcare system, the price of basic necessities of food and water have skyrocketed, sexual violence from the militia (RSF) against women and children is rampant, children haven’t been receiving education for over year, and almost all have been displaced from their homes (numerous times). The situation is only getting more dire everyday.

From conversations with family, the sound of cannons and warplanes has become commonplace. Sudanese people, who are already struggling to accept this life of suffering, there is also the fear of their home being taken from them by the militia—and for those who refuse, they are met with horrific violence to their families and death. Displacement has become the norm as people struggle to find shelter. Once they feel they are safe, the militia follows the citizens wherever they fled. On top of this, there are no institutions to provide treatment for the mental anguish and trauma they are experiencing, especially for children. The only option of survival now is to evacuate to neighboring countries to ensure a chance at a life.

My family has personally lost a number of loved ones to this war. My aunt was shot and killed by the RSF. One of our cousins died from kidney failure disease not to receiving his scheduled treatments due to a complete stop in dialysis centers. Another one of my cousins died from his gallbladder exploding due to lack of hospital treatment. The psychological stress and physical burden of being in Sudan has become too much, and my family in Sudan are seeking assistance to go to Egypt for safety, and a chance to continue their lives. There are 17 family members we are hoping to evacuate, ranging from newborns, pregnant women, elderly, people needing medical treatment, and parents who want to put their children back in school. This fundraiser is to help with the cost of tickets of Egypt, as well finding a place to live and general support to settle in a new place.

We are doing as much as we can, but it is extremely difficult to be separated from family across the globe. The only support we are able to provide is through monetary assistance, and with your help, you can save their lives. All donations are extremely appreciated, with even $1 making a difference.
