Support My Teachers at Summer Learning Academy

Hello! My name is Dr. Carmen Barfield. I am the Site Principal for a Summer Learning Academy in the local school district. I always like to treat my teachers, teacher assistants, cafeteria staff and custodial staff, but especially in the summer because summertime can be extra tough. Many times, staff will work in the summer to help supplement their income to make home renovations, purchase back to school items for their kids, payoff debt, make major purchases that they cannot afford otherwise, or to just to create an emergency savings.
The start of Summer Learning Academy was a little rough for my staff because like so many others in our city, a major storm came through and my school's area was hit hard. Our school lost power and power was not restored until the evening of Tuesday, June 27th. My staff missed two days of work that they cannot be paid for because summer jobs are considered part time work. My staff counts each day's pay, so missing two days is a big hit. Additionally, many staff members live in the school's area so they have also been without power for multiple days (some still have no power).
To boost morale, I would like to offer my staff the following and I need your help!
1. Staff Luncheon- The luncheon will be catered by local vendors and will consist of spaghetti, fried chicken, fresh salad, assorted dessert options, soda, and water.
2. $10.00 Kroger Gifts- These giftcards will serve as help with purchasing gas, taking a little discount off of their groceries, or buying their favorite snack.
I have a staff of 40 so every little bit helps to reach my goal. There are no funds designated in the summer budget to do anything for staff, only students. Students are very important but the well being of our staff helps with student achievement. Please consider supporting my staff.
Thank you.
