Support Mysti's Healing After Transplant

Donation protected
Our sweet, loving, beautiful friend, mother, and daughter, Mysti Eskridge of Shelby, NC, has just had a kidney transplant. Along with her family and other friends we are beyond excited for her journey and what comes next for her. We are fundraising to seek help with after-transplant medical and transportation expenses.

Mysti’s story, in her own words:
After becoming a diabetic, I was informed in 2018 that my kidneys were starting to fail. By 2020, I was put on dialysis. Then, in January 2024, I was placed on the kidney transplant list.

Since then, I have received three calls that a kidney was possibly available. The first was in the spring of 2024. I made my way to the hospital to find that I was fighting an infection and would not be able to receive it. In the fall of 2024, I received another call, that I was the backup recipient. I made my way to the hospital. As I walked into the hospital and sat in the wheelchair, my phone rang. I was being told that the primary recipient was going to be able to get the kidney.

Prayers were answered Friday, April 11, 2025, that I was being considered as the primary donor recipient. I had several calls from Friday through Sunday with the hospital, and was admitted Sunday night for my surgery. I was blessed to receive my new kidney Monday morning!

I've had a wonderful conversation with my surgeon, that the surgery went well. There were a few issues getting in and closing, but the transplant portion of the surgery went very well. I hope to be discharged Friday, April 18th.

The new kidney is taking a little longer to “wake up”, and I will need dialysis to help kick it into action, and follow-up appointments for the next few months. The doctors have also informed me that they need me to come back three times next week to the clinic for labs, and possible dialysis if need be. I will also have to go to the clinic two time a week, for the first month. The second month will be once a week, and then again, every 2 weeks.

We are looking to cover the cost of her to stay near the hospital for a couple of months, and any other medical expenses from the transplant. Worrying about finding a donor and dealing with kidney failure is enough. She shouldn’t have to worry about the financial burden that comes along with it as she is trying to heal. If anyone can donate or even share; we would greatly appreciate any help that we can get during this difficult time.
