Support Nacho's Life-Saving Surgery
This fundraiser is about saving a dog's life. Let me start off by stating that I'm doing the fundraiser because I happen to know the two people involved, and I've been friends with them, met through work, and we're trying to get the dog in the best home. We're now in this position where everything's gotten kind of difficult. I typically try to help out rehome animals so they end up in good homes where they need to go, where the people are trusted and safe, and I've been doing it for years. I was contacted by a friend who had a dog that was a Frenchie, and she had to find him a placement ASAP because of a living situation. As we all know, Frenchies are sold for lots of money. She didn't want any money; she just wanted him to go to the best home possible because she's that kind of person that just wants the dog to have the best home. His name is Nacho, and his best friend is a 3-year-old little boy, so this is a very tough decision to make. I found somebody that would take him and give him a great home with acres of land and another Frenchie, so they would be best friends. Sweet little Nacho has been the best friend to this little boy and such a good dog. The day that everything was supposed to happen, he started with a breathing problem. Now, in his prior home, it was very quiet, calm, and collected, so we're not sure why it all happened, but he started having really bad, scary breathing. He got taken to the emergency vet, and they had to give him medication to try to calm him down enough so that he wouldn't die from breathing the way that he was. Now, we all know that the breed, unfortunately, many people are breeding them that don't know what they're doing. They're breeding for looks and not health. And this dog was a gift to her and her son. Fast forward, he's at the vet's office, and he can't breathe. They had to give him trazodone and some medication to try to get him to calm down so they could even check him out. He had a reaction to the trazodone, and then he had a reaction to the medication they gave to sedate him. Now, the woman that I found who is able to care for him is on a fixed income. She's a semi-retired nurse who is taking what we thought was a super healthy dog that never had any problems prior. He had a reaction to the sedation, and he had to be intubated. So within a 24-hour period, the vet bill was over $1,000 plus a $400 vet bill, which I'll attach below. The vet needs a CT done because of the type of breathing problem he has and because he can't get an IV in due to the stress level that the poor dog is having and that his nasal passages are not properly open. The surgery is going to cost almost $6,000 between the CT and the specialized surgery because we all know that those dogs have to have specialized surgery. Now, Debbie had just gotten another dog from a rescue and had to spend not as much because the problem wasn't as bad, so she's tapped out. Unfortunately, she went into her 401K for her other dog, and now there's no money to pull from. The vet has Nacho on medication to try to decrease the swelling in his throat, and he's got to be in a stable, quiet environment, which is kind of hard to do because now he's found a new little girlfriend who wants to play with him non-stop. I'm doing the GoFundMe because I feel terrible about the situation. Once Debbie met him, she fell in love, and so did her husband. They're home all the time to be able to give him the proper care, with multiple acres, basically like a farm that she has, and the surgery is way more than what she had left over in savings. We just want to try to get Nacho to have the surgery safely with the CT done so that it can help him. And so that Nacho and his best friend, who's in the pictures, can still be able to visit each other and still have a relationship. Part of the reason why I helped pick her was because I knew her and knew that she would let the little boy still come as much as needed and wanted. This has not been an easy transition, and it's been very difficult on the family that had to give him up and very difficult on the new family that's falling in love with the dog that's going to need more surgery than what they have the funds for. So I'm hoping that people will see this and see his value and understand that if we had more time, she would work extra hours just to be able to fund it on her own, but unfortunately, because she had already done surgery on the other rescue that she had gotten, all of her backup money is gone, and this dog needs the surgery within a few days, or he can die at any time. So we're hoping for a prayer, and we appreciate anybody that wants to donate even a $5 bill to figure out how we can come up with enough money for this specialized surgery. And with this type of surgery, we hope people understand that we've got to try to have people that are going to breed animals, if they choose to, to breed them for health and not looks. They have a wonderful personality, great little dogs, but if not bred properly, they're prone to these issues. You can also donate directly to the veterinarian office if you'd like and just tell him it's for nacho (I can't figure out how to upload the one vet bill as one but I'll try to work on it but his surgery hopefully will be next week. )
