Hi everyone! Many of you already know me to some extent, but for those of you who don’t, My name’s Nathan! I’m a college student at Mizzou getting my Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences. I am an ambitious young fella with many hopes and dreams such as graduating with latin and departmental honors, doing research, eventually getting a PhD, and overall living my most happy, productive, successful life.
One dream that is now close within my reach is top surgery! Top surgery is the breast tissue removal procedure that is given to transmasculine and nonbinary people who have excess breast tissue. Being transgender, this is a surgery that I want to have, as it would greatly improve my quality of life and make my day-to-day much easier, as well as alleviating gender dysphoria I feel about my chest. It would help me feel more comfortable in my body and help me feel safer to exist in a world that struggles with accepting transgender people.
This procedure is not cheap, even with insurance. I am incredibly fortunate to be able to receive partial financial assistance from my family. However, there are still going to be costs associated with this surgery that I can’t account for, which includes anesthesia, inpatient treatment, and more. Despite my best efforts, my insurance company hasn’t been able to give me much information about the cost of the procedure at all, and I won’t know the total cost until 30-45 days before my surgery (my insurance has currently estimated $7200). Thus, because of the costs that are associated, and knowing that the minimum cost for the surgery will be approximately $3000, I am humbly asking for financial assistance for this surgery. Any extra funds I make will go towards the rental apartment I will be staying in while I’m in Kansas City for my recovery, and otherwise will be spent on helping me during my recovery period.
My surgery is set to happen on January 7, 2025 in Kansas City, MO!
Thank you all for your kindness and support. If you can’t donate, that’s entirely okay. Any sort of support is appreciated, whether it be financial or moral :) .
