Support Carol in Her Multiple Myeloma Battle

My name is Nathan and I'm fundraising for my mom's recent cancer diagnosis. Since late 2022 she has been in increasing pain. She went to doctors and and was referred to many specialists, most of whom were unable to determine the cause. Over the summer of 2023 she developed unexplained rib and back fractures. When we questioned how there were fractures without trauma, no one knew. In December of 2023 she was forced to give up her passion and business of dog grooming due to the increasing pain and weakness.

In early March she went to the ER for severe pain and shortness of breath. The doctor informed her that there was visible cancer and lesions in her spine, ribs, sternum, and hips. She was diagnosed with uncurable (but treatable) Multiple Myeloma; a blood cancer that attacks and weakens the bones. She has recently completed her first round of immuno/chemotherapy (with many more to go), and is currently undergoing radiation treatment.

Prior to diagnosis she endured and fought through rib, sternum, hip, and vertebrae fractures. One vertebrae has since 'burst' and is now described as 'obliterated' in imaging notes. She is 3 inches shorter than she used to be. She will require ongoing specialty Myeloma medication and infusions/injections at out-patient centers for the rest of her life. She needs significant back surgery to stabilize and repair the damage already done.

Any funds raised will go towards her ongoing medical treatment and basic needs due to her inability to work for the foreseeable future. The Gutzwiller family and all close to her greatly appreciate any amount you are able to help with.
