Support Neals Biehler and His Family

Hi, my name is Alana Walker and I am organising this GoFundMe on behalf of my brother-in-law Neals Biehler, his wife Tessa (my sister) and their six beautiful daughters Larina 15, Alani 13, Zariah 11, Jakoba 9, Kamora 5 & Remi 3.

As some of you may already be aware, on Wednesday morning the 1st of February, Neals suffered a massive heart attack at home and went into cardiac arrest.

Through the fast-acting and relentless efforts of Tessa and then the paramedics team, and after one hour of CPR they were able to get Neals’ heart beating again. We are so grateful for their courageous actions, for without them Neals would not be with us today.

He currently remains in the care of the incredible staff in the Intensive Care Unit at Cairns Base Hospital. Who we are also very grateful for.

At this moment he is in a drug-induced coma. The doctors ease up on the meds each day to access his responsiveness. And although he is opening his eyes on occasion and has some movements he is not coherent. Due to the length of time he was without oxygen, the doctors have advised us that a brain injury is inevitable. But until Neals is awake and responsive, the extent of this injury can not be assessed. Regardless, his road to recovery will be a long one.

Obviously this has been absolutely heart breaking for all of us!

But especially Tessa and the girls who are completely devastated, and are trying to come to terms with this surreal event. Flipping their lives upside down and leaving their future very much unknown.

Tessa has been an absolute rock star! She is amazing and would appear to be surrounded by angels. Each day she is at the hospital whenever the visiting hours are open. She is helping to wash him, turn him and has even given him a hair cut. She has her moments, as any of us would, but is mostly moving forward with hope and courage, and faith that things are going to get better.❤️

All we know is that unfortunately their lives, and Neals’, will never be the same again.

We have had many people reaching out asking how they can help Tessa and Neals. Thank you so much for your support and kind words. And although there isn’t much that can be done, we have thought of one thing.

We feel the Biehler family already have enough stresses & heartaches on their plate right now, and that if we could help a little financially, we could relieve at least some of that for them.

As the sole provider, Neals’ income has supported his family and he has sacrificed and worked very hard to make that happen. Our goal is to raise some funds to help with the financial stress they are now facing. In particular assisting with repayments on their family home and supporting Tessa with the costs associated with raising their young family.

For anyone who doesn’t know Neals personally let me paint a picture of him for you.

Neals is the type of guy you can’t help but love!

He is full of life and puts a smile on everyone’s face! I can’t remember an experience with him where he hasn’t had everyone in fits of giggles.

He is such a GREAT Dad! Devoted to his gorgeous girls and to making their lives fun and memorable.

He’s a man of faith and enjoys serving others in his church and his community. He’s the type of guy that would literally give the shirt off his back to help you if needed.

He loves his job as a carpenter, which he’s been doing now for more than 10yrs. But what he loves more than anything else is spending time with his family, exploring the world with his girls, fishing with his mates and doing anything and everything with his wife. She is his best friend. His high school sweetheart. His girl for the past 20yrs.

Thank you for your love and support for Neals and his family. Tessa has been overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and concern they have received.

Despite how uncertain everything is at the moment, we are choosing to stay positive and hope for the best. We have already seen many small miracles and tender mercies along the way, and are hoping and praying for more to come. We also know Neals is a fighter and we know he won’t give up.

Please keep Neals especially, but also Tessa and their girls in your prayers.
