Help support recovery from Eaton Fire
Donation protected
On Wednesday afternoon, I received a call from my mom bearing news I couldn't believe I was hearing: the Eaton Fire had claimed both my grandmother’s home (where my mother also lived) and my aunt and uncle’s home—a place they’ve shared for as long as I can remember.
To say our lives have been turned upside down is an understatement. The loss of my grandmother’s home, in particular, is deeply painful. It has been a constant and comforting presence throughout the years. Not long ago, we celebrated my grandmother’s 90th birthday there. We hosted my youngest nephew’s baby shower in that home. My oldest nephew took his prom photos in front of it. And barely two weeks ago, we gathered there to celebrate Christmas.
While we are incredibly grateful that everyone is safe, the road to recovery will be long. My mom, grandmother, aunt, and uncle have lost everything to the Eaton Fire.
Many have asked how to help, and my mom’s go-to answer is prayer. I've set up this GoFundMe for those who would also like to offer financial support. All funds will go toward addressing immediate needs not met by FEMA or insurance and 2) helping navigate the road ahead, including finding housing and recovering whatever possible from what's left of their homes.
Thank you,
