Help Carol with Rent and Recovery
Donation protected
Hello! I am humbly reaching out to my community for support. On October 2, 2024, I sustained a catastrophic fall that resulted in 9 broken ribs, a broken vertebrae, and a broken hand. While hospitalized from these injuries, I experienced a massive stroke that has delayed my physical progress and impacted my mood and memory. These have been the hardest weeks of my life.
In order for me to continue receiving inpatient care until I am strong enough to return home, I have to transition to Long-term Care. Because of our nation's poor excuse for a social safety net, all of my income except for $105 per month will go to the Long-term Care facility.
I am asking for support to be able to continue paying rent on my apartment, my place of peace and refuge. Otherwise, my children will have to pack up everything I own, and I will have nowhere to go when I am released.
I'm already devasted by my injuries, by having to spend the holidays in the hospital, and by not having the means to get gifts for my loved ones during what is normally the most joyous time of year. Now I am terrified of losing my home.
Any donation, no matter how small, toward preserving my apartment would mean the world to me. I promise to pay it forward in kind when I am healed.
Psalm 46: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.
