Support Needed for Thyroid Surgery Recovery

Donation protected
Dear friends and family:

Thank you for walking with me during this difficult journey. I have struggled being up front with people and sharing about the struggles occurring right now in my life. Asking for help has always been a challenge for me. However, right now is a time I'm needing to overcome that fear and turn to my community for support. There are a few things happenings which I will explain below. If you feel lead to support me and my family while I get treatment, it would be deeply appreciated.

In November I had an ultra sound come back on my Thyroid that indicated cancer. Based on the rating scale, I was told there was 86% chance of it being cancer. I have 2 tumors. One is on the left side of my thyroid and is the size of a ping pong ball. It takes up the entire size of the left thyroid. There is another smaller nodule at the center top of my thyroid. My thyroid naturally sits a little lower than most people's thyroid, and for that reason combined with the size of the nodule, its pushing on the back of my spinal cord, creating a lot of pressure and pain. I have been in an incredible amount of pain these last few months and just feeling completely overwhelmed and depressed.

On the positive note-I had a fine needle aspiration biopsy done and that came back negative. I got excited until my doctor told me there is a high false negative with FNA's and based on what the tumor looks like she thinks there is a 40% chance of cancer. This is better than 86%!

During the testing that has been going on during this time, it was also discovered I have several lesions on my vocal cord. These are not cancerous but they are extremely painful. They are basically several open blisters on the voice box itself, and essentially whenever I speak, Im injuring it more. I just started physical therapy for this, but this will require a lot of time and resting for healing.

On March 24th, I will be going in for thyroid surgery. They will be removing 2/3 of my thyroid and sending it to pathology to determine if its cancer. If it comes back as cancer there will be follow up decisions to make on how to treat it. Removing the 2 tumors is step one.

I will be on bedrest and out of work for 2 weeks. During this time I need financial support to help pay for my mortgage and bills since Im self employed and have no benefits. I will also need help with meals. I have celiacs so everything will need to be gluten free. Also, our family does not eat pork.

If you can donate food or money to help our family get through a month of bills and food, this would be a huge stress off our plate. With mortgage, bills, and school fees, we need around $5,000. I have never asked for money in my entire life so this is a really big deal for me. I greatly appreciate your consideration and generosity as we prepare for my upcoming surgery next month.
