Support Needed for Weymouth Family

Hello Friends, Family and Caring Supporters,

I am starting this GoFundME page with a heavy heart, but with a determination to help in a cause that I feel requires our attention, love, and support. I am hoping to make a difference in the lives of a couple that I care very deeply about, my in-laws - Bub and Cindi Weymouth. Roughly four years ago, Cindi noticed a drop in her right foot and onset of weakness in her legs. Over these four years, her muscular neuropathy has continued to spread, and get much worse and impactful to her quality of life. Cindi has gone through countless EMG’s, CT scans, MRI’s, specialist consultations, Occupational and Physical Therapy appointments, a referral to a Beth Israel Deaconess Neurology specialist as well as over a year of IVIG treatment, all with no changes in her loss of muscular movement, in fact a continued decline, leaving her with nearly no movement in her lower extremities and little strength in her upper body. All of this has been extremely hard on Cindi and Bub as well as their children, grandchildren and family. Even though testing continues to be done, in the past year, her mobility has declined at a much more rapid pace and every facet of their lives has had to change. This has created significant financial challenges for them; from purchasing a mobility van, multiple chair lifts, wheel chairs, transfer benches, a threshold shower, and a list that is too long to continue. Nearly every aspect of their daily life, that many of us take for granted, has either changed or been removed completely. While Cindi’s diagnosis is unknown, and every day we wish we could change her situation, the financial impact does not change and will likely only continue to grow. While the family’s road ahead may be long, it is not a road that they can travel alone. I am hoping to ensure that Bub and Cindi can focus on what truly matters - maintaining her quality of life, her health, their family and continue to make many more memories.

About Bub and Cindi:
For any of you that do not know these two wonderful people and their family, then you certainly missed out on some amazing apple pies, delicious treats around Christmas, and soccer games but most importantly, a love of family and each other that is unwavering. Bub and Cindi love their children and grandchildren with a love that inspires others. Since the day I met Bub and Cindi, I have admired their willingness to help others; from local charities, to family, friends and neighbors. They are two of the most kind, caring and compassionate people that you will ever meet. Over the past four years, they have been a pillar of strength for our family. For their entire lives, they have put family and friends first. They are the first to step up, and the last to ask for any help. Watching first hand how their lives have changed over the past four years, but more specifically, the last twelve months, has been one of the hardest things to witness, and while our family has tried to help, there comes a point where a community, friends, neighbors, former coworkers, or anyone that has been impacted by Bub and Cindi can have much more of an effect and help these loving people.

From their children, Carie and Aaron:
For much of our life, our mother and father have been the backbone of our family; our biggest cheerleaders on the soccer sidelines, the first to donate their time to sports booster programs, volunteer in our classrooms at every moment they could, organize trips all over New England for soccer tournaments, host team spaghetti dinners throughout every sport season during our childhood. As we grew older and created families of our own, our mother and father have cherished every moment being the most amazing Mimi and Bampie to their four grandchildren. Their dedication to family is paramount. Their dedication to helping others is inspiring and why we are so passionate about wanting to help them in her their of need. For as long as we can remember, they have pushed us to reach for the stars, and have been relentless in their pursuit to help us achieve everything we have dreamt of. They are our strength. They have been the strength and support for many in the community over decades, and it goes without saying that their tremendous kindness and care is an asset to this world. Over the past four years, having the inability to simply call our mom to ask her to dinner, take a trip to JoAnn Fabric for some quilting materials, or have her join us at home for some quality family time has been one of the greatest struggles and challenges of our lives. We’re hoping this money can help them have a better quality of life that perhaps would allow her to do some of these things again and spend time with her family, including attending grandchildren’s activities much like she attended ours.

How will the funds be used:
There are countless immediate needs; a ramp out the front of the house, a lift to help with transferring between a wheelchair a bed/chair, a better wheelchair, but there have also been enormous costs that are not covered by insurance that have accumulated over the past four years. Cindi has had over $150,000 in IVIG treatments alone, without much warning Bub has had to purchase a mobility van so that Cindi could attend critical doctors appointments, and they have had three chair lifts installed in their home to allow Cindi to leave their home. This does not include transfer benches, wheelchairs, handicap toilets, grab bars, and a list that grows every day. As I mentioned above, while the financial help does not reverse Cindi’s health, it does allow for Bub and Cindi to focus on their quality of life.

I truly appreciate anything that can be given towards this cause and I know Bub, Cindi and their entire family thank you for your support. If you are able, please share - it takes very little time and can make a huge impact. We will be sure to include updates as more progress is made.
