Donation protected
March 16: And once again, at the request of community members, we've agreed to extend the fundraiser one more week until Sunday, March 19. We've also increased the fundraising goal to $15,000 to encourage those who have not yet had an opportunity to donate to do so :) Thanks again for your generosity and kindness
March 7 update: At the request of community members, we are leaving this fundraiser open for a few more days until next Sunday, March 12. Thank you once again for your generosity!
March 1 update: Thanks to everyone's generosity, we are responding to kindness with kindness. our new goal is $10,000 and the fundraising campaign will end on March 5th. we will then distribute funds as soon as possible:)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
February 27 update: We have officially surpassed our initial $3,000 goal!!! THANK YOU TO ALL DONORS! The goal that we originally set was modest as we did not know the reach that this campaign would have but we are truly heart-warmed to see your readiness to help other community members in a time of need.
We have now agreed on a new goal of $7,000, which we hope will provide some comfort and support to the impacted individuals.
Every dollar raised means a higher $ amount for each displaced resident and an increased opportunity to make a difference.
Please note: We are keeping this campaign open until Sunday, March 5. Our goal then would be to distribute cheques as soon as possible.
Thank you again for your continued support and for spreading the word :)

53 of our neighbours were displaced during a devastating fire on the evening of Feb 21st 2023 on Presland street. At this point, we know that they’ve lost their homes and all of their belongings.
This is a devastating time for our neighbours, and we know you want to help.
If you want to support this campaign, our goal is to give each displaced resident monetary relief to help them during this difficult time. We are coordinating with their landlord, CCOC, on how to best communicate with the residents as they are of course now dispersed throughout the city.
This is an imperfect plan and the monetary support might not be much, we know, but if it can offer a tiny relief to our neighbours, we want to do it. Maybe just maybe we’ll be able to exceed the goal :)
Thank you to everyone whose already reached out to OCA to offer your support & ideas, this community is amazing!
