Support Nelly Calderon's Funeral Costs

Hello everyone,

This GoFundMe page is dedicated to the funeral of my mother, Nelly Calderon.

My mother was a beautiful soul. She was a strong woman and she faced her cancer journey with strength and humor. Even close to her death, she made jokes about her eyebrows and reassured everyone that she was okay.

My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in October 2023. She fought bravely facing multiple surgeries and chemo treatments. Unfortunately, the cancer metastasized to the rest of her body. Doctors decided that her body could no longer handle treatment. She passed away surrounded by the people that loved her.

My mother is survived by two sons and myself. My mom was a single mother, she faced this challenge head on. She worked nights to make sure that she was available for us during the day, especially with my little brother Diego. Her diagnosis was unexpected, especially since she was only 43 years old. We never imagined that we’d have to go without her support.

As we try to navigate this loss, we hope that this GoFundMe can help cover burial costs and any financial burdens that could present themselves. Any contribution, no matter the amount, would be a huge help.

Mi madre era un alma hermosa. Era una mujer fuerte y se enfrentó a su viaje contra el cáncer con fuerza y humor. Incluso cerca de su muerte, hizo bromas sobre sus cejas y aseguró a todos que estaba bien.

A mi madre le diagnosticaron cáncer de colon en etapa 4 en octubre de 2023. Luchó valientemente frente a múltiples cirugías y tratamientos de quimioterapia. Desafortunadamente, el cáncer hizo metástasis en el resto de su cuerpo. Los médicos decidieron que su cuerpo ya no podía soportar el tratamiento. Ella falleció rodeada de las personas que la amaban.

A mi madre le sobreviven dos hijos y a mí. Mi madre era madre soltera, se enfrentó a este desafío de frente. Trabajó de noche para asegurarse de que estuviera disponible para nosotros durante el día, especialmente con mi hermano pequeño Diego. Su diagnóstico fue inesperado, especialmente porque solo tenía 43 años. Nunca imaginamos que tendríamos que ir sin su apoyo.
