Support Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation

Hi Friends!

It's Natalie here :) As many of you know I used to be an avid runner. When I ran, I ran to feel good, to see how far I could go, to prove to myself that I could do it. Well, having three kiddos made life a little busier and so running took a back seat for quite a few years. However, I am now proud to announce that I am training for my first half marathon in over 10 years with the greatest purpose for which I have ever ran - to raise funds for Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation in support of my friend Kristen.

Kristen started off as a fellow 'daycare mama' friend of mine. She has two sweet girls who go to the same daycare as my kids. Since then she has turned into a genuine friend who is such an example of strength and resilience to me.

In December 2022, Kristen was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer (NET for short). One of the first things Kristen did after receiving this diagnosis was organize a golf fundraiser to raise funds for NET research. This is exactly who Kristen is as a person. Despite receiving this diagnosis, she worked to make something positive out of it. While she has navigated her journey she has continued to show me the strength of a mother, the strength of a fighter, and the strength of positivity.

NET is a rare form of cancer and deserves to be researched to the fullest to help those affected and empower those in charge of treatments with the best knowledge and understanding. Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation works not only to fund research for NET but also educate and provide resources for those affected.

As I train to run the Denver Colfax Half Marathon on May 19th 2024 I try to channel Kristen's strength to keep going. I hope to do my small part to bring awareness and support to this rare form of cancer that has affected Kristen and her young family. I would greatly appreciate your support in this endeavor.
