Support New Music: Commissioning Projects 2025

Help me commission composers and poets in 2025! I am excited to present two recitals and commissioning projects this year that engage with local communities and create new works for voice, piano, and flute.

The first project is "No More Walks in the Wood," a recital for voice and piano about trees and nature in Texas. The goal of the recital is to address how our relationship with trees has shifted over time and to update the art song repertoire to reflect 21st-century perspectives. Along with soprano Rose Kearin, we are commissioning poets Mark Sanders and Karla K. Morton, and composers Martin Blessinger, Theo Chandler, and Ben Morris. Performances will take place in Nacogdoches, Houston, and Fort Worth this spring.

The second project is a New Jersey tour with flutist Michael Alampi entitled, "New Works for Flute and Piano." This will feature works by living composers and newly commissioned pieces by composers in New Jersey. The goal of the program is to showcase new pieces for flute and piano accessible to college-age students and young aspiring musicians. We are grateful to have the support of the Composers Guild of New Jersey. Performances will take place in the fall.
