A message from my partner, Zainab Hussainpoor:

As-salamu alaykum (peace be upon you), on May 7th my sister, who was a single mother of 11 years, was killed in a fatal car accident. Zamira had been the sole provider for my nephew since he was only 2-years of age. As a single mother, she was the sole breadwinner and nurturer for young Husnain, tirelessly working night shifts to support him financially, and missing sleep throughout the day to spend what little time she could with him. As a refugee she faced significant hardship, overcoming numerous obstacles and making many sacrifices to offer the best upbringing she could for Husnain. Unfortunately, her life was cut short as she was returning home to pick up her son after a nightshift at her job. She was killed by a young man who was allegedly speeding, dying on the spot, just minutes away from picking up her son for school.

According to police and witnesses, Zamira used her final moments on this earth to save her workmate who she was driving with. She instinctively swerved to the left of the incoming car, protecting her passenger by taking the full brunt of the impact. If the collision was head on, it is likely that all 3 parties involved would have died.

Beyond her final moments, Zamira did an incredible job of raising Husnain, a 13 year old boy who is extremely bright, compassionate and kind. While young Husnain has dealt with the situation with exceptional grace and patience, any boy of his age would inevitably feel the impacts of losing their mother. He was incredibly attached to her, as he has not known his father - Zamira being his only form of parental presence. With Zamira's death Husnain no longer has any more direct family members in his life.

While a mother figure is irreplaceable, it is our responsibility as a community to come together to support orphaned children like Husnain and ensure that they can still move forward in their lives with hope and opportunity.

By supporting us financially, you will be helping us cover any immediate funeral expenses and legal expenses related to the death of Zamira. All other funds will go towards supporting Husnain's upbringing under the custodianship of his grandmother. As his grandmother is a pensioner, any donations made will go a long way towards ensuring Husnain has a promising future ahead, easing the financial burden of these tragic circumstances. We hope you can consider the difficulty of the situation our family is facing.

Support Husnain as you would like others to support your own children in such a situation. Every dollar, every share and every du'a counts, so please do not spare any avenues in supporting him.

Remember that 'Charity does not decrease wealth' - Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and '...Indeed, Allah rewards the charitable' - Surah Yusuf, 88
