Dear Newtown Wrestling Families, Alumni & Friends - We are gearing up for our 2024/25 season and could use your financial support to help defray the costs of in-season travel costs not in the school budget and off-season training to get our wrestlers ready!

We had a very successful 2023/24 season, including the following:

ATHLETIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Ranked #2 in Connecticut with a 16-0 dual record. This was the team's first undefeated season since 1972 and our highest ranking since 2015.
The team won 5 of our 8 regular season tournaments, including the Bossi Holiday Tournament in Lowell, MA. This event included over 150 teams and Newtown was the 1st CT team to win the tournament in the event's 55 year history.
2nd in SWC out of 12 teams. We placed in 11 of 14 weight-classes, including 7 champions.
2nd in Class L out of 24 teams. We placed in 10 of 14 weight-classes, including 3 champions & 3 runner -ups. We scored the most points by a runner-up in state history and more points than all 3 championship teams from the S, M & LL divisions.
2nd in State Opens out of 83 teams. We placed in 5 of 14 weight-classes, including 2 champions & 2 runner-ups.
4th in New Englands out of 145 teams, including 3 place-winners. We improved from 17th place last year.
We had 7 wrestlers compete at NHSCA Nationals in Virginia Beach, VA. Over 5,300 wrestlers from across the country competed for 3 days. We had 3 wrestlers earn All-American status and Newtown placed more wrestlers than any other CT public or private school.

ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS

7 SWC Academic All-Conference Team selections.
For Q2, the team had 8 wrestlers earn High Honors & 3 earn Honors. 65% of our varsity line-up made the Q2 Honor Roll.
7 Student Athletes were named to the National HS Academic All-American Team (Requires a GPA of 3.6 & placement in Class L and/or State Opens).

All donations will be administered by the board of Nighthawk Wrestling Booster Club. 100% of the funds will benefit our wrestlers and all gifts are tax deductible. Our non-profit tax ID# is 87-1420196.
