Support Nick Dwyer During Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Treatment
Donation protected
We appreciate you taking the time to read our GoFundMe as we ask for support during an incredibly difficult time with Nick Dwyer being recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the age of 31.
Nick Dwyer is full of bad humor, dad jokes, and a toothy grin. He is the butt of all jokes within our family and loved by all. He has spent many summers guiding white water rafting trips and kayaking. His winters have been spent skiing sheets of ice in the northeast and enjoying fresh powder out west during his travels. You may know Nick from one of his many adventures or perhaps your paths crossed during his time at Lock Haven University where he completed his undergraduate degree and met his wife, Taylor Nedurian.
As his sister-in-law, I had the pleasure of watching Nick graduate college, persevere through paramedic school, and begin his professional career as a first responder. He is an incredibly hard worker and helped my husband and I build our first home.
Nick and Taylor moved to Saranac Lake, NY in January of 2023 to start a grand adventure together, both professionally but also in buying land and renovating a house much in need of love.
It does not matter how old, how young, how sick, how not sick someone is- being told you have cancer will rock your world. And that is exactly what happened after Nick and Taylor learned at the end of June 2024 that Nick was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
I believe in transparency and authenticity. One of the hardest things to do is ask for help in this life. I am asking for help on behalf of Nick and Taylor.
They have run into many roadblocks during his cancer treatment which include a national shortage of the chemo drugs Nick needs which has forced them to drive two hours plus a ferry ride each way to the University of Vermont Medical Center in order to receive treatment. Nick will require chemotherapy treatment every other week for a total of six months. Consistent with his stubborn nature, he will continue to try to work professionally for as long as he can, however there will be significant medical costs associated with his treatment and travel.
The house and land that Nick and Taylor purchased last year is a fixer upper (this is a gross understatement). Prior to Nick getting sick, he and my sister spent all their free time renovating the house, making it a special space. Unfortunately, when Nick became ill, work on the house came to a pause. The house is not a safe or livable space for someone undergoing cancer treatment to live in. Nick and Taylor are currently living in a camper on the property however this is only a temporary solution as Adirondack winters are brutal.
Any funds donated will go towards medical bills, travel, and living expenses. I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to read Nick's story.
