Support Nick Lombardo's Health Recovery

️️Hi Everyone! We completely understand the fact that almost every person is going through their own obstacles/challenges as a result of the pandemic. We're looking for any donations to help allievate the financial burden that this will cause dad, once he fully understands the magnitude of the situation. We've felt & appreciated every text, call, virtual hug, prayer & positive vibe that has been sent. It's been so hard to not physically be there with him, as he's undergone the worst 2 weeks of his life (& it's still not over). Even though my wife Samantha, my sister Sofia, my brother in law Javier & I call the nurses/drs around the clock to check on him, it just doesn't compare to being there w/him. We're exploring every single option to try to help him recover. We thought starting this GoFundMe could help him focus on his health & stop worrying about the financial stress hes currently undergoing, which in turn can cause more health problems. Dad has always been the guy who'd literally give you the shirt off his back, or give his last dollar to someone who was short on a bill. This is our chance to do that for him! ️️As many of you may, or may not, know, my father has been going through a lot medically. Over the past couples months, hes felt very weak, had a debilitating cough, wasnt eating or drinking, & just in constant pain. The 4 of us pleaded with him to go to the doctors or hospital. He doesnt have insurance, so he kept pushing off going in hopes that hed start eventually feeling better. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I finally got him to go to the hospital on Monday, May 18th. Within an hour of getting to the Emergency Room, he tested positive for COVID-19. We were told COVID was attacking his Central Nervous System, his blood & heart - unlike his lungs, that they've been seeing in majority of their COVID-19 patients. By the next hour, he had a seizure & multiple strokes & from there, was put on a ventilator. He was immediately moved to the ICU. He was in a twilight sedation, & didnt wake up out of it until the next day (& was put back into it for most of the first week). By the third hour, he had a massive nose bleed, which affected his ability to breath and swallow, then causing him to aspirate, but because he was intubated, the blood went to his stomach & lungs. After numerous CT scans & MRIs, they found a massive blood clot, which is what caused all of the previous bleeding. The blood clot started in his brain. When the seizure and strokes happened, the clot moved down his body, which they discovered is what caused the nose bleed & the blood he was choking on. The blood clot is now in his left ventricle of his heart. They are hoping the clot will break up with the medicine they administered around the clock (since they cant operate on COVID patients, as we were told he wouldnt survive) or, at the very least, just hoping it doesnt move. We learned he has Atrial Fibrillation & an enlarged heart. On another day last week, his heart rate was at 150 bpm. The medicine wasnt working. The only option they had was to use Electroshock Therapy, to shock his heart back into a sustainable rhythm. This process was successful. ️️After a few days, they learned he has lung disease & saw COVID attacking his other organs. After the 2nd week of addressing all of these issues, his heart stopped on 2 separate occasions in the same day. The doctors are still very unsure about his future & what long term affects the seizure, strokes & COVID had/will have on him. When he talks, for the most part, he is hard to understand but is trying his hardest to have a comprehensive conversation. The nurses have told us that his charm is shining through, & see how lovable & wonderful he is (which is giving us hope). The doctors have already brought up on multiple occasions that baring any unforeseen circumstances, long term hospital care is in his future, whether it's still at the hospital hes in, or a rehabilitation center. In addition to all his medical needs, he has been in isolation. We have not been able to see him, hold his hand, hug him, tell him we love him, tell him to keep fighting, sit next to his bed & be there physically for him. ️️With just a glympse of the health issues hes facing, we are hoping to help him out, as we feel so helpless during this time. We are looking at & applying for many programs that the state offers to help him, but between being out of work, & a prolonged hospital stay, his bills will be astronomical. ️️Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this. Please continue to keep my dad and family in your thoughts and prayers. Please send this to your friends, as we'd like this to reach all the people that have crossed his path! Any value of donation is greatly appreciated! Please feel free to write a comment or story about how my dad touched your life. He is not tech savvy, but if he heard how many people care, it may be enough to help him fight harder to get better.
