Support Nicolás to heal and reconnect with their indigeneity

Hello, everyone,
We are reaching out on behalf of our dear friend and valued member of the Sacramento community who is currently facing a very challenging time in his life.
Nicolás Garcia, a proud Pomo and Purépuecha indigenous community member, has been deeply involved in activism and advocacy for causes like Land Back, indigenous rights, and renters' rights for many years in Sacramento and beyond.
Recently, Nicolás has encountered intense emotional and financial challenges that have reached a critical point. These struggles have unfortunately led to the loss of his employment, underscoring the urgent need for him to prioritize his mental health. Despite his unwavering dedication to activism, Nicolás has neglected his own well-being for far too long.
Right now, we have a critical opportunity to support Nicolás to receive the support he needs.
Our goal is to raise $12,000 to assist Nicolás through this challenging period so he can prioritize therapy. This goal includes $4,000 to cover his therapy sessions for a year. Additionally, Nicolás will require assistance with his living expenses for three months, including groceries, rent, utilities, car payments, and other essentials. Nicolás has also been financially supporting his cousin. We estimate these expenses to be around $8,000. Your support in achieving this goal will be instrumental in ensuring that Nicolás can prioritize his healing journey and continue his advocacy work with renewed strength and resilience.
- URGENT NEED BY FRIDAY, JUNE 7: You can help raise $4,000 so that Nicolas can pay this month’s bills and therapy.
- BY JUNE 21: Raise a total of $7,000!
- BY JULY 5: Raise a total of $10,000!
- BY JULY 31: Raise a total of $12,000!
If you believe in causes like Land Back, renters' rights, and indigenous rights, and want to support activists like Nicolás , we invite you to donate $5, $25, or $100 today. Your contribution will make a material difference in Nicolás' life - it will allow him to keep his electricity on, to pay his phone bill, and to keep a roof over his head - and will support the ongoing fight for justice.

Here is a note from Nicolás on why he’s asking for help during this time:
“Seeing my current therapist has given me the space to start healing from things I haven’t addressed in a long time.
I want to give so much more, but I know I can't. And I know what it's like to be treated like you're less than human and not heard. It's why I want to do the work we all do, and it's why I joined the activist community.
I want to give the love I never had growing up to others so the harm doesn't cycle ever again.
This healing journey and this reconnection is also important to me to show a good example for future generations, particularly the current youth, about their path going forward. I want to show them that life isn’t always a linear progression. You may have some setbacks. It’s okay to rely on your community when you’re in a state of vulnerability, instead of withdrawing.
Thank you for considering supporting me during this critical time. Your generosity will not only help me prioritize my healing journey but also ensure that my advocacy work can continue to inspire positive change for future generations.”
With gratitude,
Nicolás’ Support Team
