Support Nicole: Environmental Educator Facing Hardship
Donation protected
Greetings,
I’m reaching out during a tough time, asking for your support as I work toward financial stability. I’m actively seeking a part-time job, but right now, I need help covering basic expenses for the next 3-5 months, including food, transportation, and medical expenses.
A Little About Me
I'm a dedicated environmental educator, birder, and mental health and park advocate, passionate about connecting communities to nature. With a focus on fostering environmental awareness, inclusion and equity, I work to inspire undervalued groups, particularly Black women and youth, to engage with the natural world.
My initiatives include creating accessible and culturally relevant educational nature programs, consulting for nonprofits, and leading workshops that promote environmental justice and improved well-being through nature connection. Known for my impactful work in environmental education, I combine my love for nature with a commitment to uplifting community, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to explore and cherish the outdoors especially in urban spaces.
Why I Need Your Help
While I am actively seeking part-time work—preferably remote or hybrid with access to public transit in Cleveland or Columbus, Ohio—I am also committed to continuing my consulting work in environmental education. This is deeply meaningful work I’m passionate about and hope to pursue full-time in the future. These past few years have certainly been challenging—I’m navigating housing and food insecurity, health issues requiring future surgery, and the stress of relying on public transit (I currently don't have a license) while staying with friends temporarily. With my savings from consulting work nearly gone, I’m determined to move from surviving to thriving, but I can’t do it alone.
This time of year, can be especially hard, but it’s also a season of giving and coming together as a community. I’m leaning on that sense of connection to help navigate what I hope is only a temporary hardship.
Your contributions will help me with:
- short-term housing,
- food/groceries,
- transportation (rideshare or public transit options)
- some essential medical expenses
- staying focused on securing the right part-time job without added stress
How You Can Help
I’ve set a goal of $6,000, which reflects the minimum I need to get through the next few months. No donation is too small!
If a financial contribution isn’t possible, there are other meaningful ways to support me:

By spreading the word, you’re helping me reach more people who might be able to support or share it further. Every share expands the circle of kindness and brings me closer to reaching my goal. Thank you for helping in this way!
- Resume and Cover Letter Review: If you have expertise in this area, I’d greatly appreciate your insights to strengthen my job applications.
- Recommendations for Virtual Workshops or Speaking Engagements: I’m open to opportunities where I can share my skills and experiences. If you know of any, please share!
My Commitment
A dear friend and mentor encouraged me to create this fundraiser, reminding me of the importance of leaning on support to grow and continue making an impact in the world. I’m committed to using this time to not only find sustainable work but also to advance my professional skills for future opportunities. Your support will give me the stability to keep pushing forward.
Thank you so much for considering contributing to my journey. I appreciate your kindness, generosity, and belief in me during this time.
Warmly,
Nicole
