With a heart full of sorrow, I must share the heartbreaking news that Nicole, a beacon of strength and hope, is nearing the end of her journey with us. The doctors have given us the devastating prognosis that Nicole doesn’t have much time left. As we face this unimaginable reality, we are preparing for the difficult task of saying goodbye. Nicole’s life has been a testament to courage and resilience. In 2009, she endured the profound loss of her father, Brian K. Homan Sr., to rectal cancer. This devastating event was only the beginning of Nicole's own battle with illness. Diagnosed with Chiari malformation shortly after, she faced a perilous surgery with a slim chance of survival. Defying the odds, Nicole came through, but her struggles were far from over. The surgery left her with a cervical fusion, leading to chronic pain and limitations, yet she faced each challenge with unwavering strength. In July 2019, Nicole was confronted with the shattering news that she had developed the same cancer that claimed her father's life. The ensuing years were a relentless fight against this merciless disease, marked by countless surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy. Her victory over cancer was met with immense relief, but it was tragically short-lived. The cancer returned, cruelly spreading and bringing with it renewed suffering. Throughout this harrowing journey, Nicole remained a pillar of strength and hope. She shared her story openly, shielding her loved ones from the worst of her pain while drawing strength from her children—Seth, Alex, and Briana—who were her heart and soul. Their love and support were her driving force. Nicole’s fight was bolstered by an outpouring of support from her family, friends, and a compassionate community of well-wishers. She found comfort in the prayers and love extended from all corners of the world, including her husband's family in Puerto Rico. Now, as Nicole's body succumbs to the relentless progression of her illness, we are faced with the crushing reality of her imminent departure. Her spirit remains unbroken, but the time to say goodbye is upon us. We are reaching out for your help during this devastating time.
