Support Nicole's Fight Against Synovial Sarcoma
Donation protected
Hi everyone. For those of you that don’t know myself, my name is Jessica, the sister in law of Nicole Black. Nicole is the mother to three amazing children (Jordan 19, Tanner 12, Sophia 9), a supportive wife to her husband John, the best daughter, sister, auntie and friend to everyone that knows her. She has always had everyone’s back and now we need to have hers.
Nicole, is a perfectly healthy 34 year old. For anyone that knows her, knows that she loves her family, her friends and their children. You will always find her supporting not only her children but everyones in sports games, school events, summers at their home and so much more. She is everyones Auntie and is so very special to us.
In early March, Nicole went to see her primary care doctor for a small mass in her leg that she thought was caused from a slip back in January. The injury was not getting better but was getting increasingly worse. It was then when we found out as a family what she was truly dealing with. Cancer.
Upon many doctors appointments, tests and procedures Nicole was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer on April 15th, Synovial Sarcoma. We were shocked to find out that what was assumed to be a small mass was something much more complex not only in size (it is roughly 5in wide, 6in long and 2.5in in depth) but diagnosis. Synovial Sarcomas effects less than 1,000 people per year and have very limited treatment plans.
Doctors have worked incredibly hard and fast to expedite Nicoles treatment plan. Her husband John, has been with her every step of the way. It has been decided that she will begin Chemotherapy and Radiation therapy no later than the first week of May. Upon completion of this, Nicole will then undergo extensive surgery with her oncology team and plastic surgery to remove the tumor from her leg and will have more therapy after removal.
Receiving this news has shifted their lives in ways that cannot be explained. It is unimaginable and overwhelming is an absolute understatement for how we all feel. As she continues to navigate this battle, we’re asking for any and all support that we can gather for her and her family. She has been shown so much love and care but this journey for her and her family has just begun with a very long road ahead. Any support and generosity is greatly appreciated. John and Nicole will continue to provide us all with updates throughout the stages of her journey.
Thank you
