This is my story. I had a knee injury back in November, I thought I jammed it. I got it checked in December and had a MRI done on the left knee because of the pain and fluid was really bad. The doctor told me I tore my acl but the MRI showed that wasn’t the case so they was not sure what the fluid was coming from and gave me a steroid shot. I let them know my right was starting to bother me and swell but they were not concerned because they thought it was from favoring it. Which was wrong, it got worse!! The doctor stated it was my acl again but in the right knee so I did another MRI and that was not the case AGAIN. He decided to drain both knees and the fluid came out cloudy and thick which was a sign of infection. He sent me for blood work and my blood work came back high. My ortho called me and stated I needed to get to the hospital asap and start iv antibiotics not even 24hrs later… we find out I am joint septic. We still don’t know why but we went straight into surgery. It has been one of the most painful and hardest things I have mentally and physically been through. Maybe if the first knee would have been drained sooner we could have caught this sooner. I am in recovery praying we have no other problems or issues.
