Support Nonviolent Presence in Masafer Yatta
Donation protected
I hope to be back in the West Bank this March and April and would gratefully welcome your help in getting there.
The situation faced by the farming families of Masafer Yatta is much much worse than it was only a few months ago. Settler attacks are increasing in both frequency and violence there and throughout the West Bank, including in these villages whose residents have become so dear to me.
The people of these villages have welcomed nonviolent international accompaniment and protective presence in their villages and homes since 2004, and it is a huge privilege to be able to spend time with them as they struggle to care for their animals and remain on the land that sustains them.
Having lived their entire lives under a violent apartheid system of occupation, Palestinian families in the West Bank now face an unprecedented surge in the frequency and severity of violent attacks by settlers, acting under the protection of the military, with the goal of seizing agricultural land.
I have known many of these families for more than a dozen years, and they are suffering now in ways that most of us cannot imagine. The violence and fear they are facing is heartbreaking and it is my hope that nonviolent international accompaniment may still have some small positive impact on their situation.
I am extremely grateful for your care and generosity to them, and your support of my travel to be with them.
Thank You!! Cassandra
