Support Novalee's Fight: Help Kim and Jayson

Update: Novalee Belle passed away in our arms on Thursday July 18th at 11:20pm. She fought so hard for the 5 weeks she was in this world but her little heart and lungs couldn’t fight anymore. Mommy and Daddy love you so much baby girl. You don’t have to suffer anymore. Please respect our privacy at this time.

On June 11th at 12:25pm Miss Novalee Belle was welcomed into the world via emergency C- section at 36 weeks weighing 6 pounds 3 ounces at Holtz Woman and Children’s Hospital in Miami. Before Novalee was welcomed into this world her parents Kim and Jayson had to face a fear no parent should ever have to endure. In April doctors discovered Novalee had a rare abnormality in her liver that doctors said was an Arteriovenous Malformation which stands for AVM. This abnormality is super rare in fetuses as well as newborns.

Both Kim and Jayson were informed they would need to see a high risk OB one week in their hometown of Cape Coral Florida and then alternate to see a specialist in Miami which is 4 hours away from them. Novalee was needing to be observed closely to be sure the AVM wasn’t growing along with making sure she didn’t develop brain or heart failure. They were told at this time they would deliver Novalee at 39 weeks via C-section in Miami and sweet baby would spend a couple weeks in the NICU to be monitored.

Fast forward to June 4, Kim’s appointment with the high risk OB doctor in Cape Coral didn’t go as planned. The AVM in Novalee’s liver had grown and now a new observation of Novalee’s heart had shown it had grown to the same size as her stomach. An emergency appointment was scheduled for them in Miami on June 10th at the hospital with the specialist for an ultrasound and echo for the babies heart. When they arrived that day after running tests and what not, they were informed they would not be going home as Novalee’s tumor and heart both were enlarged. Kim and Jayson were both told Kim would undergo an emergency C-section the next day on Tuesday June 11th because the baby needed emergency care as soon as possible.

Since Novalee was welcomed into the world she has been an amazing patient and a NICU rockstar!!! She has had to undergo 3 major surgeries within the first couple weeks of life and still not sure what she will endure with the weeks and months to come. Currently Novalee is in heart failure. Daily she is closely monitored to check the heart, liver, and lungs functions. The most important thing right now is getting her heart back to functioning like it should normally. Everyday in the NICU comes with many ups and downs and her parents are by her side every step of the way.

We all covet your prayers and appreciate all of the love and support that has already been provided. However I am hoping we can go one step further and financially help Kim and Jayson in this time of uncertainty. Both parents have been traveling back and forth to and from Miami which hasn’t been financially easy. They have had to pay for fuel getting back and forth, hotel stays, food, tolls etc. Any donations provided through gofundme will cover the cost of these things for both Kim and Jayson. Not only is this an emotionally taxing time for the family, the financial burden has also been difficult.

Kim & Jayson are an amazing mom and dad and to know them, you would see the heavy burden on their shoulders as they try to navigate through this difficult time.
