On June 3, 2021 , our world came to a stop! We found out my husband has CANCER. When the doctor told us, I was at a loss for words. My world felt like it was crashing down and I couldn’t breathe. He was diagnosed with rectal cancer and has precancerous cells in his colon. But that wasn’t it, they also seen something in his lungs. They prepped us for the worst, told us he would only have 2-3 years to live with treatment. All I could think was how can I do this life without him… Our kids were the first thing that came to my head. How can I raise our kids without him. Who would teach the boys how to be MEN! How to be men like HIM! Anyone who knows my husband knows, he’s the last of a dying breed. Who was going to walk our daughter down the aisle, she’s a daddy’s girl. So many thoughts were running through my head. After weeks of lots of procedures and tests we got a break and were notified that it did not look like the cancer had spread. Our prayers were answered . We then started the painful uphill battle with chemo and radiation. Seeing my husband put on a brave face daily and struggle through the pain in an attempt to work and provide for his family has been difficult. There have been days where he was not able to work due to the extreme pain and daily appointments. This last week has been a more difficult one as the next step in our journey has began-Surgery . On Monday Octavio had major surgery that would involve a hospital stay and months of chemo and medical treatments, procedures and appointments to follow in the long road to recovery. Our first obstacle was going up against an infection immediately after surgery due to complications with surgery site and the stress of waiting on news of possible cancerous cells still present ..This means extended hospital stay and additional medical treatment. Our uphill battle continues as we face the coming months ahead both physically and financially as Octavio will not be able to work and will endure vigorous medical treatment. I am creating this Go Fund Me as there have been family and friends who have reached out asking how they can support and contribute to help our family at this difficult time . My husband is a hard worker in the floor/tile industry that prides himself on being able to support our family as the primary income provider, so praying this Go Fund Me helps alleviate some of the stress the coming months will bring him so he can focus on his recovery. The funds will be used to help with groceries , medical expenses , and household expenses. Please continue the prayers as those have meant so much to us and have gotten us this far in our battle to fight cancer. We want to thank you all for your prayers, support, and kindness during this difficult time.
