On June 15th of 2019, Jeremy Archer's son, CJ, dove out of a boat and hit his head, fracturing his C6 vertebrae and damaging the spinal cord. Immediately upon hitting his head, he lost all feeling below his chest and was unable to swim. CJ was not breathing by the time his friends saw him in the water. Fortunately, there was a respiratory therapist nearby who was able to administer CPR and was able to get CJ breathing again and was then flown to a hospital in Wichita, Kansas. After 30 days, the doctors attempted to fly CJ to Craig Hospital in Denver Colorado, a Brain and Spine rehabilitation center. The first couple of times that the doctors tried to move CJ, his body did not respond well. His body could not breath on its own. Finally, in mid July, they got CJ flown to Denver to start the rehabilitation process. Sarah, Jeremy's wife is staying in Denver, learning how to help CJ. The rehabilitation process will be at a minimum of 90 days. Currently, CJ can move his arms, but not his hands. He is paralyzed from the chest down. Sarah will be staying at the hospital in an apartment that the hospital allows families to stay in, at a daily charge. Jeremy is currently working on the process of adapting his house to accommodate CJ once he is released from Craig hospital. This family could use some help right now and Jeremy would be the first to help anyone in need. I would like to ease the burden of the apartment cost, travel cost and remodel of Jeremy's house. Total out of pocket expense will be around $25K. Everything helps!
