Support Officer Bradford's Road to Recovery

Donation protected

Officer Hali Bradford was shot in the line of duty on August 5, 2023, while responding to a domestic disturbance.

Due to civil litigation and criminal trial pending, the details of the incident are not able to be shared at this time.

Officer Bradford was immediately injured, taking a single round to her right buttocks, rendering her paralyzed from the waist down and bleeding severely internally.

Shortly after, she went unconscious, drug to safety, and transported to the ER where she was treated for the injury sustained, nearly causing her to die. She underwent over six hours of surgery and has since been recovering.

One year later, Officer Bradford is still recovering and her left foot remains permanently paralyzed from a severely damaged sciatic nerve in her pelvis as a result of being shot.

She has found a doctor in Lake Charles, LA, at the Neurosolution Center of Lake Charles, Dr. Kyle Daigle, who specializes in injuries that Officer Bradford suffers from. She went for her first week of treatment in June and has since regained partial movement, more progress than she has made with any other treatment over the healing process. An anonymous donor graciously paid for the first week of therapy.

To continue treatment, Officer Bradford will be required to pay out of pocket, totaling about $1500-2000 per week, with continued treatment for at least a year, if not longer.

At this time, worker's compensation does not cover the treatment, which can be costly on a police officer’s income. They have had to pay out of pocket for at-home therapy devices after one week totaling approximately $5500, and there are still other home devices to be purchased aside from the above-mentioned cost for the weekly visits to the doctor’s office.

Officer Bradford has made a miraculous recovery after nearly dying three weeks after her wedding and two days before her 25th birthday. She would like to continue her journey in becoming the competitive CrossFit athlete she once was and eventually returning to full duty as a police officer to continue to do what she loves, serving and protecting the citizens of her city.
