Support Officer Jonathan Damphier's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On April 17th, 2024 Albany, NY Police Officer Jonathan Damphier was ambushed by an armed suspect while investigating a reckless driving incident. Jonathan was immediately shot by the suspect resulting in him sustaining a gun shot wound to his upper leg, shattering his femur. Officer Damphier was able to return fire and ultimately the suspect took his own life. Officer Damphier subsequently underwent emergency surgery for his injuries. The surgeons had to insert a rod to secure the broken femur, but were unable to remove all of the fragments of the bullet as they were too close to his femoral artery. Officer Damphier received blood transfusions following his days after surgery and is struggling to begin his physical healing. His Doctors believe his injury will require months of physical therapy, and he will likely not be able to return to work for many months to come.
Officer Damphier is a three year member of the Albany, NY Police Department and is a Military Police Officer in the Army Reserve. He has spent his adult life in service to his Community and his Country. The funds raised will enable Jonathan to cover his bills and allow him to concentrate on his recovery and therapy.
