Support Omar’s BASCOM Cleft Lift operation.

I’m not usually the type to do this, and i’ve actually been resenting doing this for many years but i’ve come to a point in my life where i feel like I have no choice.

My name is Omar and 6 years ago I got diagnosed with complex pilonidal disease, which is characterized by chronic or recurrent abscesses and extensive, branching sinus tracts.

When I was first diagnosed, for quite some time we had no idea what this could be or where it could root from. I was in my second year of university and I had to completely drop out of all my classes because I had began losing my ability to sit , eat, walk , and even move. After weeks of hospital visits and family doctor visits, I was scheduled for an operation for the incision and drainage of the abscess located in my tailbone area.

After the operation, I slowly gained back my ability to fully function and was able to begin continuing my education. Little did I know that my case is an extremely rare case where my disease is reoccurring multiple times a year and that this was only the beginning.

Fast forward six years, and here I am today having a friend assist me in writing this introduction as I am headed to the hospital to perform my 7th open wound surgery in the last six years. I got to this point because unfortunately, In Canada, (land of free health care), the only free operation available for this Disease is that they will cut and drain it and send you on your way home, unfortunately with this procedure it comes back every three to nine months (in my case).

I have spent thousands of dollars on creams, donut pillows, sleeping accommodations, and many more useless tools that did not help.

So please, let me paint a picture for you, every three to nine months, I lose my ability to walk for weeks, I am unable to sit down, lay down or sleep without excruciating pain, I am unable to hold a job at times because this complex disease is so unheard of and lacks the emotional support and medical support of insurance plans, I have been prescribed opioids for pain medication for years with no positive result besides numbing the pain.

So here I am today asking for support because i’ve just received news that people who have pilonidal disease that becomes infected again and again over a long time without treatment, I am now at an increased risk of a type of skin cancer called squamous cell carcinoma.

Many of my friends and family members are not aware but i’ve decided to come public about this issue in search for support.

There is an operation called “Bascom Cleft Lift” which has been introduced and published in 2021. There are not many doctors in the world who can perform this operation nor is it covered under any health plan in canada.

There is a 96.6% chance of a successful operation if i manage to find a doctor to perform this operation. The cost of this operation is estimated to be 16,000$ USD without travel and stay accommodations. This is where I need some support as this could potentially be my last chance of ever being able to fully recover without this disease getting worst.

I ask anyone who knows me or knows what kind of person I am to take the time today and read my story and Inshallah with the will of god, I can begin this journey of finding a cure/solution.

Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and all donations/advice/kind words are appreciated.

Please note that in the weirdest way, I am ashamed that i have got to this point in my life where I must ask for support, my case is not ordinary and I wanna thank everyone once again for the potential support.
