Support ONE Lancaster to keep Lancaster livable!

We are raising money to help ONE Lancaster, a community coalition of Lancaster residents dedicated to ensuring that the future of our town of Lancaster, Massachusetts is economically sustainable while preserving the historical charm, environmental richness and diverse character of our neighborhoods. We aim to engage and educate the people of Lancaster about current and future development proposals so that they can make informed decisions about the future of Lancaster. .

Lancaster, MA is currently threatened by multiple warehouse projects that together will site 3.6 million square feet of warehouses/trucking distribution centers in our small town. If built, these warehouses will change the rural character of our town forever. At present, some of our town leaders have accepted this fate for Lancaster, but things are not yet over!

Voters were asked to decide at a Special Town Meeting on November 14, 2022 if they wished to approve a Select Board-sponsored article to rezone a 171-acre parcel of residential land abutting an existing neighborhood to enterprise use to allow a mega-warehouse of 1.2 million square feet, along with several smaller warehouses, to be built in the Nashua River Valley Area of Critical Environmental Concern.

The town voted to accept this bylaw change in the hopes it would somehow reduce our tax burden and help get us out of jeopardy regarding affordable housing. None of this has yet shown signs of coming to pass.

These warehouses together will total 2.4 million square feet, have nearly 500 truck bays, over 1000 tractor and trailer parking spaces, and over 3000 car parking spaces. This gigantic development just doesn’t belong in our town. It’s a simple matter of scale.

There are also 1.2 million square feet of warehouses currently being proposed at two sites on Fort Pond Rd.

ONE Lancaster is committed to responsible and sustainable development that generates revenue while preserving the character, environment, and quality of life in our town. We need your help! Please see our website www.onelancasterma.org for more information.

If you are concerned about the current plans for this mega-warehouse development, if you see a future for Lancaster that is different from our current path of becoming the warehouse capital of central Massachusetts, then please JOIN US and DONATE to help us fund communications to engage residents, and enable us to obtain the services of subject matter experts, including legal assistance.

LET'S KEEP LANCASTER LIVABLE!
