Support Orba Mayabb's Heart Surgery Recovery

Many of you know and love Orba Mayabb, our dedicated head custodian here at Republic Middle School. He has also worked in the McCulloch building as well as the High School building, for a combined time of 15 years of service in the Republic School District. Orba keeps our halls clean and bright, and provides our staff and students with a safe and healthy environment each and every day. More than that, the halls of RMS would not be the same without Orba’s smiling face, quick-witted jokes, or his morning rock-and-roll rides on the zamboni. His kind heart and innumerable selfless acts, whether it is in or outside of the workplace, are just some of the qualities that make him such a special person and a pillar of our school and community.

Now, Orba needs our help. Orba recently found out he will have to undergo open heart surgery, on July 24th, in order to replace one of his heart valves. Due to this, he will need to take an extended leave from work with no short term disability. He has sick days, as he rarely takes days off, but it is not enough to cover the recovery time the doctors suggest. For such an extensive and invasive procedure, Orba may not be able to return to work for two to three months. This creates a significant financial stress for him and his family.

Our goal is to raise the money that would supplement the unpaid time he would miss in recovery. With such a critical and invasive surgery, it is imperative that Orba can take the time he needs to rest and heal properly. Let us show him our appreciation and support, and return the same care and compassion he continues to show for our district, students, and community.
