Support Original Pantry Cafe Workers
Donation protected
Please support the workers at the Original Pantry Cafe following their last day of work on Sunday, March 2.
On Feb. 26, the Original Pantry Cafe workers and the union representing them, UNITE HERE Local 11, met with the Richard J. Riordan Trust. The Trust is demanding that, in order to avoid the closure and loss of workers' jobs, workers must give up their demand for job security and continued union representation if the restaurant changes hands.
Many of these workers have worked for decades at the pantry, contributing to its success as a 100-year-old landmark in Los Angeles. Now is our chance to thank them for their service to the city and offer them support as they are losing their jobs and livelihood.
I am the Executive Director of CLUE (Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice). We have been supporting the Pantry workers throughout their struggle to maintain their jobs and their union. Funds raised will be divided evenly and distributed directly to the workers who lost their jobs when the Pantry closed on March 2.
